Our Story
"Believe you can and you're halfway there."
- Theodore Roosevelt
My husband Stephen and I shared deep roots in the culinary field, and opening a café had long been our dream. When we relocated to Texas from our native state of Wisconsin, we quickly fell in love with the Lone Star State and with a local treasure we had never before encountered: the kolache.

Inspired by that discovery, I began making kolaches at home and soon developed recipes our friends and family loved. With a clear vision of success and a genuine passion for our craft, Stephen and I took the leap and opened Kolache Kafe together.

In August of 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer, Stephen passed away. The outpouring of support from friends, family, and the Kolache Kafe community carried us through an unimaginably difficult time of loss. I am eternally grateful for every kind word, every visit, and every gesture of encouragement you have given.

Stephen's dream lives on in every high-quality pastry we bake and coffee we serve at the Kolache Kafe. We are honored to be part of the Houston community and look forward to welcoming many new faces into our Kolache Kafe family in the years to come.

Thank you for being part of our story.
From my kitchen to your plate, enjoy!
Thank you, Houston

I absolutely love this tucked away bakery! The staff are friendly, the food is fabulous and the coffee creations are delightful.

Ashely and team have set up a wonderful little retreat of a cafe here! My coworkers and I very much enjoyed the tasting flight, kolaches, and the cinnamon roll is on a whole other level! Incredible example of great hospitality here. Go check them out!

Holy fudge, they were insanely good! I also grabbed a cinnamon shortbread hot coffee, and it was the perfect combo. The barista was amazing too—super friendly and just added to the great vibe. Definitely coming back!
